I am an eager-to-learn Software Engineer working in the Cloud from Italy.
My focus areas are
Distributed Observability and Kubernetes, while I am also passionate about UI/UX and have a strong background in Javascript development and Start-Up management.

Experience ๐Ÿ‘จ๐Ÿปโ€๐Ÿ’ป

DevOps Engineer (Freelance)

ClearMl, Remote, Italy โ€“ (Apr 2024 - Present)

All-things infrastructure and platform - Kubernetes focus.

Observability Tech Lead

Infovista (NLA Cloud Platform), Remote, Italy โ€“ (Jan 2023 - Apr 2024)

Over the last couple of years, as a Tech Lead and part of the Platform team, I delivered Observability-as-a-Service for the NLA Cloud Platform.

The centralized observability platform is collecting data (metrics, logs, traces) from distributed multi-cluster environments, observing thousands of microservices in production.

A single instance of our observability platform has been keeping up with 5 million active series and ingesting up to 4k logs per second, collected from up to 70 Kubernetes clusters, hundreds of Nodes, and 5k running Pods in production.

Skills in Grafana, Prometheus, Thanos, Loki, Fluent Bit, Fluentd, Tempo, Argo Workflows, and MinIO.

Software Engineer

Empirix/Infovista (NLACP and Ativa), Remote, Italy โ€“ (Apr 2020 - Jan 2023)

I started leading a four people Agile team responsible for getting the company observability-ready, creating the productโ€™s distributed monitoring, logging and tracing platforms.

While entering the cloud observability world, I also worked on a bunch of other proprietary microservices and infrastructure projects getting some mentionable hands-on experience in Helm, OpenAPI, Quarkus, Docusaurus, MinIO, Apache Pulsar, Rancher, and ElasticSearch.

UI Engineer

Empirix (now Infovista KLERITY), Modena, Italy โ€“ (Oct 2018 - Apr 2020)

My team was dedicated toย the UI design and development of proprietary data analysis and dashboard reporting tools for telco. My primary tasks included heavy data manipulation and visualization using AngularJS, jQuery, and D3JS, both inย Cloudย and bare metal environments.

Founder

Wast, Bologna, Italy โ€“ (Jul 2018 - Feb 2019) - Related to

Wast started as an experiment to deeply study the indie apparel business and the waste produced by humanity (and yes, it was before Greta).

I am really proud of the product we created and the great feedback we received (and still receive sometimes).

Tech and Design Lead (Co-Founder)

AKO, Bologna, Italy โ€“ (Mar 2018 - Dec 2018)

AKO was the first peer-to-peer educational platform, selected by the University of Bologna 2018 โ€œStart-up Dayโ€ event among over 400 participants.

Working with it on a daily basis, I have a strong Kubernetes knowledge, as well as Helm, Docker, and generally Cloud Native projects, ecosystem, and Microservices development.

In 2023 I got my CKAD Certification from The Linux Foundation.

Observability

Being working on a daily basis in distributed cloud Observability, I have achieved great knowledge with tools such as:

Javascript

My "native" programming language. I find it easy to read and I have a solid understanding of its capabilities and limits, as well as its ecosystem. I have used Javascript for both jobs and personal projects.

Python

Intermediate level, I've started using it more recently. I'm not fully proficient yet but I keep pushing.

Java

Intermediate level, I have also worked using the Quarkus framework.

React Native

I use this for a bunch of mobile-development Personal Projects.

Technical writing

I enjoy writing about technical subjects and I feel I can do a pretty good job of it. I am even thinking of starting my own newsletter! My motivation is explaining things in clear and pragmatic terms, making things easier for others.

Agile and Scrum

I like Scrum and I do have some experience as a Scrum Master, following all its rituals.

Others

Here is a list of a few other stuff I know and worked with:

QUACKERS

Jan 2023 - Jun 2023

As ChatGPT was released and making waves, we (3 people) wanted to start a "real-world" project with it. We pitched a card game idea. Our goal: make a funnier version of Uno with nicer graphics.

Who doesn't love ducks? Especially rubber ducks, every programmer's best friend. The project was born.

From hand-written POCs to the final product, it was a quick journey. In 3 months we created it, printed out card decks, and played tons of games.

So fun, and so many things learned on the path.

Runmate

Started developing a new business and mobile app called Runmate, where Runners and Coaches could get in contact in real-time.

Hobbies ๐ŸŽ‰

Cooking ๐Ÿœ

I am Italian so of course, I love food!

I have a soft spot for Asian food and especially making Ramen (and seeing it go in 10 minutes after spending 3 days making it). Also, I am a beer geek and you will find me sometimes brewing at home.

Music Production ๐ŸŽต

I have been playing piano since I was 6 years old and recently built my tiny home studio where I love to record new sounds.

Photography ๐Ÿ“ท

Proud owner of a couple of Fujifilm cameras since 2014, but I also like shooting film.

Board Games ๐ŸŽฒ

Always up for playing: from the popular ones to the unknown gems, I never miss a chance cause I just love board games. I am even trying to build my own!

Urbex ๐Ÿš๏ธ

Shortened form for โ€œUrban Explorationโ€, means I like visiting and exploring abandoned places (only the safe ones). Even if it might sound strange at first, it is like visiting an old museum, where story and time have stopped and everything is left intact.

Rubber Ducks ๐Ÿฆ†

After all, I am a programmer, so I do have a 13 (and growing) rubber-ducks collection straight in my home office!
